The Department of Physical Therapy & Rehabilitation Science (PTRS) at the University of Maryland School of Medicine (UMSOM) is recruiting for a 12-month, full-time, non-tenure track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor in an acute care and outpatient clinical setting as the Director for Student Clinical Practice. We seek outstanding applicants interested in contributing to the education mission and the coordinating of clinical experiences for students within our entry‑level Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT).

The Director for Student Clinical Practice (DSCP) will report directly to Victoria Marchese, PhD, PT, Chair, Department of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Science, UMSOM. In addition, this individual will work collaboratively with Diana Johnson PT, MS, Senior Director, Patient Care Service, University of Maryland Medical Center (UMMC) and other UMMC rehab managers and supervisors.

Applicants for this position must possess or be eligible for a Maryland physical therapy license; have a minimum of five years of clinical practice experience in the acute care setting; and have a minimum of three years of experience as a physical therapist clinical instructor. Applicants should also be American Physical Therapy Association Level 1-Clinical Instructor Credentialed (CCIP) and have a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree (DPT), with American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties (ABPTS) certification.

The Roles and Responsibilities of the Director for Student Clinical Practice will include the following:

1. Serve as Site Coordinator for Clinical Education only for UMSOM PTRS students.

Will be responsible for administering, managing, and coordinating clinical assignments and learning activities for students during their clinical education
experiences; Will determine the readiness of physical therapists to serve as clinical instructors for students; Will supervise clinical instructors in the delivery of clinical education experiences; Will communicate with the academic program regarding student performance and provide essential information to the academic program.

2. Provide physical therapy patient care services.

3. Serve as a PTRS Student Clinical Instructor.

4. Coordinate and provide PTRS student opportunities within UMMC.

5. Serve as the UMSOM PTRS-UMMC liaison to coordinate and interview eligible UMSOM PTRS DPT student candidates for the PTRS-UMMC Scholars Program.

6. Fulfill the responsibilities of a core faculty member for UMSOM PTRS.

Rank and salary are commensurate with experience and qualifications.
