As an Integral member of Employer Relations, the Assistant Director works with the Career Exploration and Development ( CXD ) team to implement Bowdoin’s employer recruiting program. This role is a hub of hiring information for the team, knowledgeable about hiring opportunities and employer needs and managing the systems and operations that ensure both employers and students are supported throughout the process. As a result, the Assistant Director develops a clear view of and relationships within multiple industries and an understanding of best hiring practice. The position reports to the Director of Employer Relations .

Develop recruiting calendar and manage all aspects of employer events from scheduling to execution of logistics. Employer events include information sessions, workshops, interviews, information tables, industry treks (student trips to a city or cities to meet with alumni and prospective employers, development of an itinerary, involving travel and hotel logistics, etc.), and networking events (at Bowdoin and in cities across the country biannually)

This employee will:

Host all employer events (on-campus and virtual) working with student ambassadors. Respond to the needs of employers who are participating in the recruiting program

Help with cultivating new employers for Bowdoin and respond to incoming employer information and requests.
Serve as the expert on Handshake (Bowdoin’s recruiting platform). Have detailed knowledge of job postings and events. Ensure implementation of employer approvals and job and internship listings. Serve as day-to-day relationship manager with Handshake. Train and coach other team members on its functionality.

Track and report on key data crucial to the success of the recruiting program.

Assist the Director of Employer Relations and other CXD staff with special projects.

Education/Skills Requirements

A Bachelor’s degree is required.

Experience Requirements and/or Equivalents

Prior experience working in a professional office environment is preferred.

Standard Work Days and Hours

The position is a year-round position (.92 FTE ) working eleven months each year. Standard hours of 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. M-F with frequent evening commitments during school year (especially in the fall and spring tied to the recruiting calendar) and occasional weekend commitment. Some travel. This is an exempt-level position and requires the time commitment necessary to fulfill all of the job responsibilities.
