Status:Non-Exempt; part-time (24 hours per week evenings and weekends)

Purpose: Under the supervision of the Health Services Manager and the Coordinator of Residence Life, the individual in this position will perform a variety of clerical and clinical activities in support of student health and public safety.


  • Monitor the general health and safety of Mount St. Joseph University Residence Hall students; reviewing daily health screenings, ensuring COVID-19 safety measures are being followed, provide PPE and other supplies to residents as needed, provide additional cleaning/disinfecting of Residence Hall spaces as needed, ensure adequate signage and education is being provided to Residence Hall students regarding Safety Guidelines
  • Provide 1:1 health assistance to ill students, isolated students and students placed in quarantine; assist with relocating to temporary isolation room if needed, assist with coordination and delivery of meals, assist with reporting process to various departments (Public Safety, AVI Food Services, Office of Residence Life, Dean of Students, Custodial Services)
  • Monitor and track ongoing Resident compliance with mandated isolation and quarantine; provide for compliance with safety requirements by arranging for modifications to a Residents living arrangements as needed.
  • When appropriate, notify Dean of Students, Coordinator of Residence Life and/or Director of Public Safety of breaches in compliance with COVID-Safety Guidelines (both on the individual and institutional level)
  • Assist with contact tracing; identifying close contacts of confirmed cases, providing quarantine and isolation instructions to individuals based on guidance of state and local health authorities
  • Monitor the general health and safety of the Mount St. Joseph University community; conduct surveillance rounds of campus, correcting behavior and reporting compliance issues to Public Safety as needed
  • Assist and Health Services Manager in completing daily reports for Campus and County tracking purposes
  • Other duties as assigned

Primary Contacts: Health Services Manager, Coordinator of Residence Life, Dean of Students, Public Safety, AVI Food Services, Buildings & Grounds, Health Services Medical Assistant, Residence Hall Advisors (RAs) Supervision Exercised: None Supervision Received: Works towards a previously defined objective with little supervision and uses a wide range of procedures; plans and arranges own work referring questionable cases to a supervisor.


Education: Degree or certification in Allied Health profession, Public Health or Health & Wellness preferred; Certification as Medical Assistant, Nursing Assistant or EMT preferred. Experience: 1-2 years of experience in a medical office environment or healthcare environment. Knowledge of medical terminology and experience in patient care. Specialized Training: Contact tracing knowledge a plus; understanding of personal protective equipment, standard precautions, CDC and OSHA guidelines related to healthcare workers (e.g. patient safety measures) required; CPR certification required.
