To provide instruction in the Program as a member of an instructional team as needed. Instruction is for students in certificate and Associate of Applied Science degree programs. The position involves teaching, selecting and conducting laboratory learning experiences appropriate for meeting objectives, and evaluating student performance in the classroom and self-paced laboratory.

Essential Functions:

Essential Functions
1. Provide instruction in Manufacturing-related areas that may include, but not be limited to the following: welding, machining, and non-destructive testing. This includes lecturing, directing and supervising student laboratory practices, and providing individual conference time to guide and evaluate student progress. Classroom teaching may require 4-8 load units (8 to 16 contact hours per week) per term in the self-paced environment.
2. Teaching assignments may include courses taught during the day and/or evening classes taught at the Redmond Campus.
3. Includes shared responsibility for curriculum development and participation in evaluation for courses and the program.
4. Perform other essential duties and tasks specific to each location, as assigned.

Marginal Job Functions
1. Cooperate with other College personnel to assist students with career planning, job placement, and follow-up studies.
2. Act as a resource person for students.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Individuals must possess these knowledge, skills and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.
1. Broad knowledge and/or work experience in the field of Manufacturing Technology and its related areas: welding, machining, and non-destructive testing.
2. Knowledge of teaching and instruction of various audiences and group dynamics.
3. Visual ability, corrected, to observe, direct, and supervise students in laboratory situations.
4. Familiarity with and ability to operate or oversee the operation of audio-visual equipment, including overhead projectors, film, sound systems, video, television, interactive video and audio equipment including computer controlled mixed media presentations.
5. Ability to operate and oversee the operation of computers.
6. Ability to effectively communicate orally with others, using the English language, with or without the use of an interpreter, auxiliary aids, or services.
7. Ability to review, understand, and apply concepts presented in training programs, conferences, and/or professional literature.
8. Ability to work with manufacturing faculty and other COCC staff at all levels.
9. Willingness to travel and/or teach at various hours and locations, as required.

10. Ability to work cooperatively with and contribute to a diverse workplace through ideas or experience.
11. Ability/skills to competently advise and/or serve students from a variety of background, respecting cultural
and socio-economic differences.
12. Ability to work in classroom and office environments using computers, white boards, projectors, and other
basic office equipment.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Associates’ degree and/or 5 years work experience in manufacturing, welding, machining, or a closely
related discipline.
2. One year of secondary or college-level teaching or advising. Additional qualifying experience may substitute for required education at the College’s discretion.
3. Evidence of excellence, or promise of excellence, in instruction.
4. Computer Literacy: Training in, or experience with, email, internet, word processing, and presentation applications.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Bachelor’s preferred in subject or closely related discipline.
2. 5- 10 year’s work experience in manufacturing, welding, machining, or a closely related discipline.
3. One or more years of successful college instruction.
4. Community college teaching experience.
