Biobank Facility/Program Manager

Position Summary

In this role you will manage the day to day operations of the UB Biobank Program (UB BB) and report to the Director of UB BB. He/she will be responsible for overseeing both the research and clinical operations services for UB BB laboratories. This includes, but is not limited to, biosample collection, processing, management, and distribution. This individual will also be responsible for organizing and managing UB BB communication with investigators/clients, project management, nucleic acid and cell lab services in order to fully coordinate and manage lab service activities.

Specific Job Duties
• Supervision: Supervises all Lab Operations staff for both research and clinical services, including training, managing, and scheduling across all UB BB activities.
• Performance Planning: Manages and monitors performance metrics for key Laboratory activities through operational meetings, periodic governance reviews, and established KPIs. Works to increase efficiency across all lab services units.
• Reporting: Oversees Laboratory Services reporting process. Create and implement tools for lab services management.
• Client Management: Manages processes to keep clients updated in a timely manner regarding progress of a project, decision points, and events through teleconferences, e-mails, site visits or other suitable means.
• Lab Management: Manages all QA related activities for the lab services groups regarding all audits, compliance and regulatory guidelines. Responsible for lab readiness and QA reporting for these activities.
• Communications: Manages all laboratory operations documentation, including communications, schedules, technical paperwork, agendas, meeting minutes, etc.
• Training: Creates and implements training programs specific to individual lab service units.

Minimum Qualifications

• Master’s degree in a scientific discipline and one year of experience.
• An additional equivalent amount of college-level study in an appropriate science curriculum may be substituted for the experience in the above combination.
• Knowledge of scientific empirical procedures.
• Must understand the fundamentals of the science.
• Must read and understand technical documents.
• Must perform basic scientific routines, protocols, and tests and articulate data to researchers.
• Must operate and maintain sophisticated equipment.
• Requires the ability to record and maintain data in computerized and non-computerized formats.
• Must be able to communicate effectively.
• Will be required to participate in required occupational health and safety programs.
• Regular workweek may include evening and/or weekend work.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in a scientific discipline and three to five years of experience.
