Position Category: Staff - Full-Time

Summary:
The Fulton Library at Utah Valley University seeks an innovative and enthusiastic Instructional Design Librarian to join our Information Services Department. Under the direction of the Head of Information Services, the Instructional Design Librarian will collaborate with librarians and faculty to develop, implement, evaluate, and promote library instructional materials for information literacy in both face-to-face and online learning environments. This librarian will use emerging instructional technologies to create curriculum and instructional materials that support the goals of the Fulton Library and UVU. This librarian will also teach information literacy instruction sessions to diverse student groups, teach sections of SLSS 1050: Library Research (a for-credit elective course taught online), provide reference service to students and faculty from a variety of educational backgrounds, oversee collection development and act as faculty liaison for assigned areas, and perform a variety of other professional tasks including but not limited to library representation on regional or university committees or task forces.

Required Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited ALA library college or university with a master’s of Library Science degree is required.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Knowledge of instructional design principles and online pedagogy.
• Knowledge of technologies and tools to deliver instructional content such as learning management systems, emerging instructional technologies, content capture tools, and presentation tools.
• Knowledge of current library and educational trends.
• Knowledge of the use and content of reference sources as well as ability to match a wide variety of user needs with appropriate resources.
• Knowledge and experience in assessment and data analysis.
• Experience with creating, interpreting, and analyzing data and reports for use in decision-making.
• Knowledge of methods in the evaluation and selection of print and non-print sources.
• Knowledge of library operations
• Strong instructional skills, including the ability to develop instructional materials and present instruction to students and faculty one-on-one, in individual classes, and as part of a required course.
• Skills integrating instructional materials into online learning platforms.
• Skills developing collaborative partnerships with key stakeholders across the university and within the library to extend outreach activities.
• Skills in the systematic design of instruction for online, blended/hybrid, and/or traditional courses.
• Proficiency in the use of computers, peripherals, and software applications, such as the Microsoft Office Suite, and the ability to assist patrons with their use.
• Ability to plan, implement, and assess learning outcomes and tools.
• Ability to apply the ACRL Framework for Information Literacy in Higher Education.
• Ability to coordinate library services with other departments.
• Ability to develop new ideas and contribute to library improvements and outreach efforts.
• Ability to be self-directed and meet deadlines.
• Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to work flexibly and creatively with students and faculty from diverse backgrounds.


Preferred Qualifications:
Experience of at least two years in an academic library setting and/or additional degree or experience in Educational Technology, Instructional Design, Education, or a related field are preferred.


Physical Requirements:
Occasional bending or stooping, twisting, kneeling, reaching, pushing/pulling and ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
Frequent use of fine hand manipulation, both at computer and in the reference areas.
Frequent standing, sitting, walking, talking; expressing or exchanging ideas, hearing, seeing, and vision ability.
Occasional need to climb, kneel, reach, grasp, and ability to lift up to 25 pounds.

Pay Range: $45,483 - $56,854, annually
