Assistant Director for Substance Abuse Education and Services

 

The LiveWell Office at Coastal Carolina University invites applications for the position of Assistant Director for Substance Abuse Education and Services (Student Services Program Coordinator II). This position will be responsible for providing alcohol and other drug assessments and education to students, coordinating follow up services when appropriate, and providing education to the campus community around substance abuse, addiction, and recovery issues.

 

The Assistant Director for Substance Abuse Education and Services will provide alcohol and other drug assessments for students who are both mandated through the university conduct system and who seek services voluntarily. Completion of assessments and follow up recommendations will be coordinated with the Dean of Students Office and other campus areas as appropriate. The assistant director will also provide education to the campus community on alcohol and other drugs, addiction, and recovery as well as other wellness topics. As a member of the LiveWell team, the assistant director will work to promote societal, community, relationship, and individual wellness in the CCU community. Additionally, the assistant director will be responsible for ensuring that all assessment and education efforts are inclusive and accessible to all members of the campus community.

 

Requirements: Candidates must hold a Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, or a closely related field and six (6) months experience working with individuals with alcohol and other drug issues.  Two (2) years of related experience is preferred. Successful candidates will have experience working on a college campus and/or with college students as well as expertise alcohol and other drug prevention, response, addiction, and recovery issues. Candidates should possess knowledge of alcohol and other drugs and their effects in the college environment and have a demonstrated record of successful performance in and commitment to the practice of counseling with both individuals and groups.
