The Pace School of Performing Arts (PPA), housed in the Dyson College of Arts and Sciences at Pace University, and located on the University’s campus in lower Manhattan, invites applications for the position of Program Head of the BFA Musical Theater program, which was established in 2007 and is consistently ranked one of the top 10 Musical Theater programs in the country. PPA is committed to increasing the diversity of the campus community. Candidates who have experience working with a diverse range of faculty, staff, and students, and who can contribute to the climate of inclusivity, are encouraged to identify their experiences in these areas.

The Program Head position has been transitioned to a tenure track full-time faculty position. The successful candidate will teach in their identified discipline and report directly to the Executive Director of PPA. Applicants who have already submitted their CVs need not re-apply.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Creation and implementation of policies and procedures for the program
  • Recruitment of students
  • Selection of the year’s productions
  • Identification of the artistic team for each production
  • Hiring of adjunct faculty
  • Facilitation of the Artist in Residence program
  • Fundraising and grant writing
  • Alumni outreach
  • Collaboration with the other PPA programs

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate is innovative, inspiring, and committed to Pace’s motto of Opportunitas. The successful candidate will have experience in anti-racist teaching, mentoring, instruction, and administration as a color-conscious leader through promoting diversity and equity in education and theater. The successful candidate must be an established musical theater practitioner and/or scholar with either an MFA, MMus, or terminal degree in musical theater or theater. Expertise in any of the disciplines of musical theater will be considered: acting, voice, direction, dance, etc.
