Director of Accommodations and Accessibility

The Director will provide leadership and oversight for the Office of OAA, which includes three specific areas: a fee-based learning support program; the TRIO Student Services grant; and general accommodations which implements all federally mandated accommodations to students with documented disabilities.

This position will direct the strategic planning and assessment of the area, develop departmental policies and procedures, supervise professional and support staff, oversee the budget, and collaborate with campus administrators and faculty.

Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Special Education, Psychology, Counseling or related field and 5-8 years of extensive managerial experience required. Doctoral degree preferred.

Essential Functions:

  • Oversee the daily operations of the OAA Office which provides service to over 700 students with documented disabilities and a staff of 19 professionals.
  • Provide strategic vision and planning for the office and develop annual plans of action and assessment activities in accordance with the Mission of the College.
  • Manage multiple institutional budgets including office operations, a TRIO Student Support Services Grant and a fee-based Learning Support Program budget.
  • Collaborate with Enrollment and Admissions in recruiting efforts.
  • Develop and implement department specific policies and procedures.
  • Remain current with legal and technological advances related to accessibility support.
  • Familiarity with evaluating and interpreting disability documentation materials.
  • Must provide consultation, information, resources, and training workshops to faculty, staff, students, prospective students and parents/families.

Preferred Qualifications:

Well versed in the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, Section 504 of the rehabilitation Act of 1973, and awareness of updates and changes to the laws. Excellent writing skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.
