Summary

Baylor College of Medicine has an excellent opportunity for an Assistant Professor in Health Services and Primary Care Research . The successful candidate is expected to collaborate and enhance the research mission of the Department as a member of a diverse, primary care team and will act as a team scientist. The new faculty member will participate in grant funded research projects, with a focus on substance use disorders, cancer prevention, tobacco cessation and integrated physical/behavioral health. Perform routine and complex statistical analysis, ensuring statistical integrity and efficiency using statistical software, such as Statistical Package Social Sciences (SPSS) or Statistical Analysis Software (SAS).The candidate will be an integral member of the Department’s Center for Primary Care, Prevention and Population Health.

Job Duties
  • Provide excellent and innovative high quality health services and primary care-oriented health care research.
  • Perform and be skilled in data management and data analysis.
  • Work closely with the Chair as a member of a multidisciplinary team (team scientist) to support and develop primary care related research projects.
  • Develop oral/poster presentations, publishable scholarly manuscripts, and technical reports.
  • Serve as a liaison with federal, state, and local agencies, coordinating efforts to obtain, manage, analyze, and disseminate data for epidemiological and clinical research.
  • Actively assist the Chair to seek out opportunities for research and extramural funding.
  • Participate in grant writing activities that facilitate the development of successful research.
  • Assure adherence within the collaborative research efforts to federal and state regulations as well as College-wide policies in the ethical conduct of research.
  • Serve as Co-I on new proposals for external funding
  • Disseminate research results: write manuscripts and give presentations for local and national audiences.
  • Work with clinical faculty to develop scholarly products and enhance their scientific potential.
  • Possess strong academic and research credentials directly related to quantitative, or mixed methods for carrying out social sciences program evaluations.


Minimum Qualifications

Desirable skills and education include: Qualification for the position is a PhD in Epidemiology Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, or related fields. We especially encourage applicants with expertise in epidemiological and clinical research, data analysis including secondary databases, data management, and grant writing to complement existing and growing research efforts. 3 year experience is preferred.
