The Office of Development and Alumni/ae Affairs (ODAA) invites applications for a full-time, exempt Assistant Director of the Bard College Fund (BCF). The successful candidate will work closely with the Director of the Bard College Fund to support the efforts of the office through planning, organizing, and implementing specific aspects of a multifaceted, fast-paced annual fund office, with the goal of increasing participation and gift size for alumni/ae, parents/families, and friends of the College. The successful candidate will excel at working in a community that is broadly diverse with regard to race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, gender, nationality, sexual orientation and religion.
Responsibilities include assessing the current and previous year’s campaigns, executing the production of direct mail, email, and social media appeals as well as special targeted appeals; monitoring progress towards annual campaign goals for the BCF; and implementing the annual phonathon, textathon, and Senior Class Council program. The Assistant Director will also play an integral part in creating a program to transform Senior Class Council members into Alumni/ae Class Agents. The Assistant Director reports to the Director of the Bard College Fund and works closely with the Office of Alumni/ae Affairs and Development as needed. Ability to work some nights and weekends and local travel required.

Bard College’s main campus is in Annandale-on-Hudson, NY with 1900 undergraduate students; the campus also features multiple graduate programs. The 1000 acre campus sits along the Hudson River and offers the Fisher Performing Arts Center, the Hessel Museum of Art, as well as the home of the Bard Prison Initiative, the largest college degree granting prison education program in the U.S. The Bard Network also includes several Bard High School Early Colleges across the country as well as five international campuses and partnerships. The Bard Network is complex and demonstrates Bard’s priorities well in addition to the College’s emphasis on civic engagement.

Responsibilities include:
1. Organize, direct, and manage bi-annual phonathons / textathons to effectively increase participation and funds raised from alumni/ae and families.
2. Supervise, train, and manage up to 25 student callers.
3. Assist with production of marketing pieces, text messaging campaigns, direct mail and email appeals in an effort to increase participation and funds raised.
4. Strong Excel, i.e. pivot tables and vlook up, in order to analyze campaign progress and generate appeal lists.
5. Experience in Instagram, Google Tools, Facebook.
6. Ability to articulate Bard’s mission to prospective donors in person, in print, and in social media formats.
7. Attend college-wide events on and off campus representing the ODAA.
8. Other duties as assigned.

B.A., B.S., BFA required
Successful fundraising, development, and/or marketing experience
Experience in a higher education environment preferred
Demonstrated ability to analyze data sets.
Excellent writing skills and keen attention to detail.
Strong Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and V-lookup, as well as Word and PowerPoint required.
Knowledge of Ellucian Banner or Argos a strong asset.
Ability to work effectively with diverse audiences with a customer-service focus.
Ability to undertake multiple priorities concurrently, and independently prioritize to meet due dates.
Familiarity with social media platforms and video/photo editing a plus.

Physical Demands:
Must be able to sit for extended periods of time and work in a standard office environment.
Must be able to occasionally lift 20 pounds.
Must be able to work occasional weekends and evenings as needed.
