Position Announcement

Supervises, organizes, and direct vehicle fleet maintenance, including motorized electric and combustion engines. Plans and prepares preventative maintenance and repair programs on motor pool vehicles, golf carts, grounds equipment, and/or institutional buses. Responsibilities

  • Monitor and manage Dixie State University’s motor pool vehicles, under the established State of Utah “Fleet Anywhere Program” or other programs as needed.
  • Manage the University’s inventory of fleet vehicles, including electric and other carts, institutional buses, and grounds equipment. Coordinate use of institutional buses for athletics and other occasional use, as needed.
  • Service and maintain vehicles, including electric and small carts, grounds equipment, and miscellaneous campus equipment on a daily basis, as needed.
  • Track the University vehicle gas card system, including maintenance on fleet gasoline cards and records.
  • Provide vehicle information reports to legislative on a quarterly basis.
  • Supervise and maintain preventative maintenance records for University vehicles and state motor pool vehicles; develop preventative maintenance program and ensure department and institutional compliance with state regulations.
  • Monitor all vehicle code compliance laws, rules, and regulations; suggest changes and best practices as needed.
  • Train all vehicle maintenance employees on correct safety procedures, general vehicle maintenance procedures, and equipment.
  • Perform bookkeeping functions, such as auditing and maintaining budget records, work orders, and tool inventory.
  • Service and repair broken equipment and vehicles on an emergency basis, including electrical, welding, and sharpening. Complete in-shop and on-campus repairs on fleet vehicles, as well as general welding and other shop duties as needed.
  • Act as a Safety Operations Trainer to fill OSHA requirements on equipment such as forks lifts, aerial lifts, etc.
  • Act as a back-up to mail & freight shop and assist with forklift and deliveries, as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • Vocational/Technical School or Associate’s Degree in Automotive Maintenance or Technology required.
  • Minimum of three years related experience required; experience working with state motor pool vehicles and/or the State of Utah “Fleet Anywhere Program” preferred.
  • Good knowledge of tools, equipment, and work methods associated with automotive repair.
  • Basic bookkeeping skills required.
  • Ability to be certified in safety operations to fill OSHA requirements; prior certification or experience as a safety operations trainer preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and exercise important human relation skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relations with the University community, students, employees, and the public.


Supplemental Information

POSITION DETAILS, COMPENSATION & BENEFITS: Full-time classified staff (overtime-eligible) position. Annual salary of $40,000 - $42,000, depending on qualifications & experience.
