This campus-based position covers teaching, research, and service responsibilities for the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor.

Minimum qualifications:

Required education

Doctorate or equivalent terminal degree

Discipline/degree area

Nursing, Education, or a related field

Required specialized training/certifications

Current Michigan RN licensure (unrestricted) or eligibility for licensure in Michigan
Must have a graduate degree in Nursing (either Masters or Doctorate)

Required minimum work experience

Assistant Professor:
-Three years of experience as a registered nurse (RN)
-Experience with medical/surgical nursing

Associate Professor:
-Three years of experience as a registered nurse (RN)
-Experience with medical/surgical nursing
-Six (6) years of full-time higher education experience at the rank of Instructor or above
-Evidence of teaching excellence and significant scholarly or creative professional achievements

Knowledge, skills, abilities or attributes required for satisfactory performance of the position duties

Exceptional oral and written communication skills.

Time management skills - the ability to manage one's own time and that of others.

Active Learning - Understanding the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making.

Critical Thinking - Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.

Learning Strategies - Selecting and using training/instructional methods and procedures appropriate for the situation when learning or teaching new things.

Interpersonal Orientation - Knowledge of principles and processes for interacting effectively with others.

Problem Sensitivity - The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem.

Experience with teaching and/or computer-assisted instruction in an

accredited university setting.

Ability to teach across the nursing curriculum.

Experience with teaching clinical simulations.

Experience with online teaching.
