The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) seeks an experienced and creative leader to serve as its next Associate Vice President (AVP) for Marketing and Communications. 

In 2019, The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) earned Research 1 Carnegie designation, given to less than 5% of all four-year institutions. UTEP leads the nation in educating traditionally underrepresented students while impacting the economy and the well-being of the community it serves. Nine colleges and schools provide a wide variety of rigorous degree programs and research opportunities for its more than 25,000 students (81% of whom are Hispanic), at the undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate levels. Given its location along the U.S.-Mexico border, UTEP is proud of its rich multicultural, binational university community and heritage. 

Reporting directly to UTEP President Heather Wilson, the AVP will lead the offices of University Communications, University Relations and University Events, and integrate a cohesive strategy and infrastructure for a centralized marketing and communications team and its divisional partners. The AVP will guide the development and execution of a university-wide marketing plan that celebrates and differentiates the UTEP experience. The AVP will work with key partners across the institution to expand and strengthen brand messaging, increase market competitiveness, enhance engagement events and educate prospective students, alumni and donors on UTEP's history, impact and mission. 

The AVP will be charged with developing marketing and communication strategies that have a broad, campus-wide impact on enrollment management, advancement and fundraising, public relations, external relations and other strategic initiatives identified from a new strategic planning process. In addition, the AVP should help reimagine how the University will deliver community engagement opportunities that continue to grow and enhance stakeholder affinity. The AVP should be a skilled negotiator, customer-service oriented and work to develop relationships with various internal and external constituents, including the press, that benefit the University.
