SPECIAL EDUCATION. Westminster College, New Wilmington, Pennsylvania. Assistant Professor of Education tenure-track position to begin Fall 2021. The Westminster College School of Education seeks a candidate for a 9-month position. Responsibilities include the coordination of the Special Education Program and the teaching of undergraduate and graduate courses in special education.

A successful candidate should document:

  • An earned Ph.D. or Ed.D. in special education from an accredited institution by August 2021.
  • Familiarity with the laws and regulations of the U.S. Department of Education Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP) and the Pennsylvania Department of Education Bureau of Special Education.
  • Successful experience teaching college students, including face-to-face and online formats, and supervising practicum and student teaching experiences.
  • Demonstrated experience using instructional technologies for special education, including assistive technologies for learning, physical mobility, adaptive communication, human speech recognition and synthesizing, and adaptive computing.
  • Demonstrated record of research in special education, leading to a sustained record of scholarship.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of successful experience teaching special education students PK-12.
  • Expertise in and experience working with children and youth with mild to moderate disabilities, including physical, learning, intellectual, and emotional and/or behavioral disabilities, and utilizing inclusive practices and current research in teaching students with disabilities in the general curriculum.
  • Evidence of strong interpersonal and communication skills, effective collaboration, and collegiality.
