Assistant Professor of Biology (Genetics)

 

The Department of Biology and Chemistry at Texas A&M International University seeks an Assistant Professor (tenure-track, 9-month position) in the area of genetics to begin Fall 2022. Primary duties include teaching introductory and upper level courses for the biology program. Given the university’s support to junior faculty and commitment to foster research, teaching loads are significantly reduced for the first two years of hire; faculty only teach 12 semester credit hours per year in the first two years of hire. In year 3, faculty only teach 15 semester credit hours. Years four through sixth are carry a reduced teaching load; a total of only 18 semester credit hours. Junior faculty are also given substantial start-up funds to conduct research. We desire candidates with: (1) a research focus of computational or a bioinformatics, (2) a strong commitment both to teaching and to developing a research program that involves undergraduate and graduate students; (3) the ability to acquire extramural funding; (4) previous teaching experience [experience as a teaching assistant will be considered].

 

 

Required Qualifications:

The successful candidate must hold an earned doctorate in Biology with a specialization in genetics. ABDs will also be considered but must have earned a doctorate before appointment.
