The Digital Signage and Technology Specialist will be responsible for implementing, supporting and maintaining technology within the division of Enrollment and the Student Experience with particular emphasis on items that support digital communications. This includes managing and administering the division’s digital signage systems and applications as well as developing infrastructure that supports the communications and outreach goals of the division and student organizations. This individual will provide support for computers, content players, endpoint displays and other audio visual (AV) components and act as a technical resource for staff and students.

As a member of the Technical Services team, this individual will work closely with the ESE communications team, student organizations and departments to gather requirements, develop and maintain solutions that increase audience engagement; integrating data from a variety of systems to assure dynamic digital content. This person will collaborate with both ITS and the Division of Marketing and Communications to ensure compliance with university technology, brand standards, governance and approach. The Digital Signage and Technology Specialist will also be responsible for documenting and tracking projects, and providing technology support to staff and students.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s degree and/or combination of education and experience required.

• Minimum two (2) years’ work experience in a computer support, digital signage technology or audio visual (AV) position.

• Background in higher-education and/or large corporate environments preferred.

• Certification in digital signage or related audio visual (AV) desirable.

Job Specific Qualifications

• Demonstrated technical and troubleshooting skills in the areas of computer hardware, audio/visual technology and software.

• Previous experience managing digital signage software (Fourwinds) or audio/visual technology in an academic or corporate environment preferred.

• Familiarity with graphics and illustration packages with UX/UI design experience preferred.

• Outstanding communication skills (written, verbal, and visual); ability to understand how content is most effectively displayed to achieve audience engagement.

• Commitment to exemplary customer service; strong customer service skills including rapid response time, appropriate and timely escalation and incident resolution, and appropriate follow-up skills.

• Strong organizational and time management skills, including the ability to multi-task, prioritize, and independently manage a changing workload and schedule.

• Ability to learn existing and emerging computer and A/V technologies quickly.

Responsibilities

• Act as the primary administrator of the division’s digital signage network. Use the university’s signage platform (FourWinds) to program and configure digital signs and interactive digital kiosks.

• Build, deploy and maintain specific hardware (computer, audio visual equipment) as part of a larger network of integrated systems required to meet the communications requirements of the division.

• Coordinate and manage technology projects. Work with the ESE communications team, student organizations and staff to gather and document requirements and develop leading-edge technological solutions to address need. Track and report on project status to leadership.

• Provide technical support and assistance to staff throughout the division and student organizations. Document procedures and train users on the use of technology and software.

• Collaborate with campus partners and ESE Communications to manage digital signage technology needs during large-scale events and programs. Serve as a back-up to the Digital Signage Content Coordinator for coordinating content with marketing and communications content strategy and developing content consistent with University brand approach.
