Job Summary
The Staff Dentist is a integral member of the Dental Hygiene Program who works in collaboration with the supervising dental hygiene faculty in treating patients scheduled for care in the JCCC dental hygiene on-site clinical facility. This current position is for Tuesdays/Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the spring semester. The Staff Dentist will supervise, mentor and assist students in evaluations for health records, restorative charting, caries risk, occlusion and radiographic surveys. Specifically, the dentist’s role includes:
• Performing an initial and periodic examination on patients presenting for periodontal maintenance
• Providing a dental diagnosis for each patient
• Making referrals for care beyond dental hygiene needs
• Consulting on complex medical histories
• Preparing prescriptions as needed
• Reviewing radiographs with students and discussing the patient’s caries risk assessment and dental needs
• Grading radiographs as indicated
• Utilization of an Electronic Record and Digital Imaging Systems
• Learning and following all JCCC clinical policies and procedures and the operation of the Eagle-Soft Management System
Required Qualifications
DDS license
Kansas dental license
Ability to mentor students with constructive feedback
Minimum of two years clinical practice experience
