Teaching Assistant Professor - Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources

The Department of Industrial and Management Systems Engineering (IMSE) at West Virginia University (WVU) invites applications and nominations for a faculty position at the level of Teaching Assistant Professor in Systems Engineering and Data Analytics. The anticipated start date is January 2021. The specific teaching areas of interest for this faculty position include but are not limited to systems engineering theory, systems verification/validation, and data-driven decision making focused on applications in defense, health, transportation, governmental and commercial enterprises. A portion of this position could also support externally funded projects on an as-needed basis. This position is a non-tenure track faculty rank eligible for annual merit and promotion in rank.

Qualifications :

Eligible candidates must hold at the time of appointment a Ph.D. degree OR a Master’s degree with a minimum of 10 years practical work experience in systems engineering and/or data analytics projects. MS degree required in one of the following areas – Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science or a closely related engineering discipline. A minimum of 3 years of teaching/laboratory support in systems engineering or data analytics at the college level is also required. Additional experience in major governmental or defense systems engineering projects is preferred. The successful candidate should be capable of engaging with a diverse population of students and incorporate state-of-the-art teaching techniques and methods in his/her teaching.

The successful candidates must have the ability to (1) teach lecture, laboratory or design courses at the undergraduate level, (2) collaborate within multi-disciplinary teams of faculty and other researchers across colleges and institutions, and (3) be engaged in professional activities, (4) collaborate with the programs assessment and accreditation activities.
