The Facilities Engineer will join a highly collaborative and forward-thinking Facilities Planning and Management Department. The Department strives to be the benchmark of excellence for facilities engineering while being mindful stewards of the university’s resources. The Facilities Engineer will develop assigned projects from client contact and design development through construction drawings and specifications. The Facilities Engineer will provide construction management and cover all necessary electrical and mechanical aspects of the development and remodeling of university facilities. This position reports to the Director of Facilities Engineering.

Position Function

Develop assigned projects from client contact and design development through construction drawings and specifications. Provide construction management and cover all necessary electrical and mechanical aspects of the development and remodeling of university facilities. This position reports to the Director of Facilities Engineering.

Minimum Education

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical and/or electrical engineering or related field.

Minimum Experience

At least three (3) years of experience designing mechanical, electrical, and/or plumbing systems for buildings.

Minimum Other

Must be able to complete professional quality construction drawings and specifications. Knowledge of mechanical and electrical design, structure, and architectural principles.
Knowledge of EPA / OSHA regulations, fire and safety codes, and building codes as required.

Authorization to work in the US

About Facilities Planning and Management:
Facilities Planning and Management ( FPM ) provides timely, cost-effective quality facilities-related support to the Ball State University community. With over 300 employees, FPM designs, renovates, and builds flexible learning spaces that are conducive to innovative pedagogical models. The updated campus master plan aligns with FPM’s mission, goals, strategic imperatives, and enduring commitments to environmental stewardship and inclusive excellence.
