The Wang lab is hiring a postdoc to focus on the topic of electrocatalysis, electroorganic synthesis, ion conductors and ion exchange membranes, or other fields in energy and sustainability that are related to the group’s current research.

We are seeking candidates who have demonstrated ability to lead and/or work collaboratively in teams comprised of individuals of diverse backgrounds, skills, and perspectives. Consistent with the National Research Council’s report, Convergence: Facilitating Transdisciplinary Integration of Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, Engineering, and Beyond, we are seeking candidates who have demonstrated ability to work in research groups that “… [integrate] the knowledge, tools, and ways of thinking…” from engineering, mathematics, and computational, natural, social and behavioral sciences to solve societal problems using a convergent approach.

Education Required

Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate


Chemistry, materials science, chemical engineering, or closely related field

Experience Preferred

- Experience in electrochemistry
- Experience in organic/electroorganic synthesis
- Experience in ion conductors or ion exchange membranes

Skills Required

- Basic knowledge of electrochemistry and materials science
- Familiarity with energy/sustainability concepts
- Familiarity with new electrocatalytic reaction proposal design and drafting
- Ability to master the essence of the material in the scientific literature and to recognize shortcomings in the published work
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as oral presentation skills
- Organization and time management skills
- Ability to work in a collaborative environment
- Ability to work independently and professionally with minimal supervision and direction
- Ability to train first year graduate students with basic experimental skills

Skills Preferred

Ability to independently develop innovative ideas and projects related to electrochemistry, organic/electroorganic synthesis, ion conducors, and ion exchange membranes
