Classification:Support Staff - Part-time - 20 hours per week -
Limited Term through December, 2020

Reports to:Director of Institutional Research

Description:Under supervision of the Director, the data analyst is responsible for data analysis, reporting, and dashboard development to enhance efforts in strategic planning, decision-making, and institutional effectiveness. The analyst will use Microsoft and Business Intelligence (BI) tools to gather, compile, maintain, analyze, and disseminate data. The analyst plays a vital role in transforming institutional data into useable information and actionable insights that support campus needs.

Responsibilities:
  • Effectively query data, write technical reports, and produce data visualizations
  • Ensures data integrity and develops data sets by systematically extracting, organizing, and restructuring institutional data for analysis
  • Reviews, updates, and submits data to external agencies
  • Responds to internal requests from University decision-makers by analyzing and reporting findings
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive data in compliance with university, state, and federal regulations
  • Identify, analyze and interpret trend or patterns in university data
  • Performs related duties and other supporting tasks as required or assigned

    Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree is required
  • 1-2 years of progressively responsible experience preferred; related higher education experience preferred
  • Knowledge of quantitative and qualitative methods for data collection, analysis, and interpretation
  • Experience working in a research and assessment setting in higher education preferred
  • Experience using SQL-based information systems (e.g., Cognos) and data visualization platforms (e.g., PowerBI) preferred
  • Attention to detail and accuracy

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including data visualization, and web publishing
  • Excellent analytical, critical thinking and organizational skills.
  • Proactive problem solver with proven success in a collaborative, team-oriented environment
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, organize work and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, time sensitive environment.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive data.
  • Excellent professional judgement.
