Library Operations Supervisor (2 positions)
Carroll University

Classification:Support Staff - Full-Time - 2080 annual hours

Reports to:Director of Library Services

Description:Support essential services of the library in coordination with the professional librarians. This position will be cross-trained for operations in circulation, interlibrary loan, technical services, and the Information Commons. However, specific duties will be assigned to each position based on the strategic needs of the library and staff workflow. Supervise a team of student workers at the service desks. Participate in research assistance.

  • Student Workers: Hire, train, schedule, supervise, and evaluate a team of student workers for library service desks.
  • Circulation: Manage circulation desk, course reserves, and bookstack maintenance functions, including but not limited to: daily operation, user questions, and enforcing policies and procedures.
  • Interlibrary Loan: Oversee daily interlibrary loan operations, troubleshoot issues, and process materials for lending/borrowing.
  • Technical Services: Order books and items selected by the professional librarians, perform copy cataloging of library books, maintain the book leasing program, check in periodicals, and perform monthly electronic records maintenance.
  • Information Commons and Library Classroom: Help maintain the physical space, equipment, and policies and procedures.
  • Facilities Liaison: Submit work orders for library projects to the Physical Plant regarding building issues (e.g., repairs, custodial, HVAC, lighting).
  • Technology/Equipment Liaison: Troubleshoot technology issues and submit work orders for computers, printers, and copier/scanner.
  • Participate in research assistance shifts as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Education and Experience:
    ?Associate's degree required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
    ?1-2 years of related library experience preferred.
    ?Experience in an academic library preferred.
    ?Supervisory experience preferred.

    Technology Skills:
    ?Proficiency with MS Office Suite, Google Drive, computers, and related computer skills.
    ?Working knowledge of Library of Congress call numbers preferred.
    ?Knowledge of integrated library system (ILS) software preferred.

    Human Relations Skills:
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with employees, staff, and faculty and campus visitors.
  • Communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently as required.

    Other Requirements:
    ?Shift changes and/or weekend work may be required by your supervisor based on departmental and University needs.
