Coastal Carolina University is accepting applications for the following position: Academic Adviser (Student Services Program Coordinator II) in the Wall College of Business.

 

Duties will include, but may not be limited to: providing academic advising for undergraduate business majors; teaching the first-year experience course or other course(s) as required; maintaining accurate academic records for undergraduate students; developing and maintaining college guides for majors and concentrations within the WCOB; evaluating the effectiveness of program annually; and maintaining familiarity with trends and concepts related to academic advising and teaching at the post-secondary level. Other administrative duties related to the Wall Center of Excellence as required.

 

Requirements: Master's degree and related experience are required.  At least two (2) years of full-time experience related to advising or mentoring college students and a degree in business from an AACSB accredited institution is preferred.  Previous experience in college orientation/transition programs for new students is desirable.

 

A successful candidate will also possess knowledge of the basic principles and theories of student development and educational administration; knowledge of the policies and procedures affecting the assigned program areas; knowledge of the techniques of individual or group counseling; the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, faculty, staff and the general public; the ability to identify, develop and implement programs and activities that will benefit the campus community; the ability to provide supportive counseling for a wide range of student problems.
