The Department of Applied Physiology and Kinesiology (APK) at the University of Florida (UF) is seeking applications for a full-time Lecturer faculty position. The Department of APK (http://apk.hhp.ufl.edu/) currently enrolls approximately 1,130 students (900 undergraduate, 100 residential graduate, and 130 online graduate) with 24 full-time faculty members. APK students are highly motivated and engaged learners. The University of Florida is ranked 6th among public universities in the nation by U.S. News and World Report. The primary responsibilities of these faculty positions may include, but are not limited to, teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses in the areas of Human Anatomy and Physiology, Exercise Physiology, Neurophysiology, Muscle Biology, Biomechanics, Motor Control and Learning, Strength and Conditioning, Exercise Assessment, and/or Prevention and Care of Athletic Injuries. In addition, one of the expectations is to teach courses in the graduate online program. Instructional excellence is supported by university, college, and departmental mechanisms such as the Office of Faculty Development and Teaching Excellence, in-house course design consultants, lecturer promotion and merit pay plans, conference travel, summer teaching and online teaching opportunities, and instructional grant opportunities. This is a 9-month, 1.0 FTE, non-tenure track faculty position; however, summer employment opportunities are possible. Although the primary duties for this position are instructional, involvement in service at the department, college, and university level is also expected.

UF is located in Gainesville (www.visitgainesville.com), a metropolitan area of approximately 250,000 residents in North-Central Florida, 118 miles from Orlando, 50 miles from the Gulf of Mexico, and 67 miles from the Atlantic Ocean.  The area has moderate temperatures year round and hosts abundant wildlife, mature forests, prairies, lakes, and opportunities for many outdoor activities. Gainesville has an excellent school system, with a number of public schools highly ranked in the state and nation.

Qualifications:

Applicants must have an academic doctorate (Ph.D., Ed.D., D.Sc.) in kinesiology, exercise physiology, sports medicine or a closely related discipline.
