A postdoctoral associate position is available immediately in the laboratory of Dr. Shannon Boye in the Division of Cellular and Molecular Therapy in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Florida College of Medicine. This position is funded for two years, with the possibility of further extension. The work is focused on the development of Adeno-associated viruses (AAV) vectors for the treatment of inherited retinal disease. A highly motivated individual is being sought who is a self-starter, has excellent interpersonal skills, proactive attitude, attention to detail, and good work ethic. This individual must be dependable, and able to work both independently as well as a team-player. Candidates should have a strong background in molecular biology. Preference will be given to applicants that have demonstrated the ability to work as part of a collaborative team and have a strong interest in translational research. Experience with outcome measures in rodent models (ERG, OCT, fundoscopy, behavior testing), gene therapy and/or virology are a plus.

A strong candidate will have:
  • A Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or related disciplines or M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. and relevant experience
  • Prior experience in molecular biology, cell culture, and animal studies.
  • Preference will be given to individuals with previous research experience with AAV
  • Proven ability to present and publish research data
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English
Minimum: Ph.D., or M.D., or M.D./Ph.D. in the appropriate area of specialization.

Preferred: Prior experience with outcome measures in rodent models (ERG, OCT, fundoscopy, behavior testing), gene therapy and/or virology.
