Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University is seeking a Medical Assistant in the Health Services department at the Daytona Beach campus. The Medical Assistant (MA) is responsible for both direct and indirect patient care duties under the supervision of the mid-level or upper level provider along with the registered nurse. The MA will be responsible for preparing patient rooms, ordering all supplies and assisting the provider and the registered nurses with clinical tasks. Exceptional customer service is a must. Medical Assistants are essential members of the ERAU healthcare team.

Responsibilities include:

  • Measure vital signs, including weight, blood pressure, temperature, and document all information in patient’s electronic medical records. Take telephone messages and provide feedback to patient and healthcare team.
  • Assist providers with exams if needed, prepare patients for exams, collect and prepare laboratory specimens, perform basic lab tests such as urinalysis, strep, mono, COVID-19 and flu testing.
  • Keep exam rooms stocked with adequate medical supplies and clean all rooms.
  • Be proficient in EKGs, venipuncture and non-intravenous injections.
  • Order all medical and laboratory supplies.
  • Keep record of all quality assurance with the point-of-care testing such as quality controls and ensure training of all staff.
  • Maintain all records and training for biohazardous waste.
  • May occasionally fill in at the front desk.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications :

Required Qualifications:

  • Formal education/diploma/certificate/degree program of 6-18 months after high school (area of study: Medical Assistant).
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of related work experience.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Knowledge of EMRs.
  • The ability to display proficiency in performing EKGs, phlebotomy and administering injections.
  • Excellent bedside manner and time management skills.
  • Understanding and compliance with HIPAA and FERPA.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Team player.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) preferred.
