Job Description:
The Health Professions Advising Coordinator is an integral part of the Health Professions Advising team. This position supports the holistic development of students pursuing a career in a health profession through one-on-one advising meetings, email and telephone communication, and HPA sponsored events. The coordinator interacts frequently with prospective students and families, current students, Rhodes faculty and staff, community members, and alumni in a variety of settings. Some evening and weekend work required.

This position supports the holistic development of students pursuing a career in a health profession through one-on-one advising meetings, email and telephone communication, and HPA sponsored events. The coordinator interacts frequently with prospective students and families, current students, Rhodes faculty and staff, community members, and alumni in a variety of settings. Some evening and weekend work required.
Duties include but are not limited to the following:
- Provide advising for first and second year students interested in pursuing a health professions career.
- Maintain accurate and detailed advising notes for each student and track appointments and other student contacts on a weekly basis.
- Stay current on admissions requirements, trends in healthcare, and best practices in advising.
- Collect, compile, and analyze HPA student data including acceptance and matriculation rates for applicants.
- Develop and maintain advising resources and serve as a liaison to professional schools regarding prerequisite coursework and Rhodes College curriculum.
- Work with Director and Assistant Director of HPA to develop, coordinate, and present programming including workshops, group advising, and community events.
- Provide support to the Director and/or Assistant Director for internships, summer fellowships, MCAT prep course, early acceptance programs, and other special programs.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred.
- One to three years of experience in higher education, counseling, non-profit, or secondary education with emphasis on advising and program management.
