- Ability to make multiple phone calls to ensure Spanish language participants understand and enroll in the HOPE registry.
- Responsible for preparing weekly progress reports of recruitment efforts.
- Will collaborate with ICTR leadership, faculty and study teams from varying schools within Johns Hopkins University, to support individuals with Limited English proficiency (LEP) enrollment into study protocols.
- Will help develop Spanish language recruitment materials.
- Provide support for activities to educate and raise awareness of research and importance of diverse population engagement.
- Will help create social media engagement to promote HOPE registry.
- Will support research enrollment of Spanish speaking participants into various clinical trials inpatient and outpatient.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Must be fluent in both English and Spanish, and have two (2) years of related experience required.
- Additional education may substitute for some experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
JHU Equivalency Formula:30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) may substitute for some experience. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job.
Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Work requires excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively deal with a diverse patient population.
- Ability to be flexible with fast paced work in inpatient Attending Physicians, clinical research teams, and patients.
- Requires working knowledge of social and health issues.
- Familiarity with medical terminology beneficial.
- Familiarity with medical terminology beneficial.
- Work requires strong problem-solving skills to effectively assess social/health needs of members and arrange for appropriate services required in meeting those needs.
- Must be able to recognize situations that require professional intervention.
- Work requires excellent organizational skills, flexibility, and the ability to get things done as scheduling can be challenging.
- Must be compassionate and sensitive to diverse situations, results-oriented, a self-starter and capable of making appropriate decisions.
- Must be able to enter data on a computer.
Technical qualifications or specialized certifications:
- Candidates must successfully pass the required JHM approved designated language assessment prior to job offer.
- New employees must complete all required training within 30 days of hire.

The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
