Full Professor, Tenured (various fields relating to business of health)
To advance its position as a national leader in the business of health, Johns Hopkins Carey Business School has opened multiple new positions for full-time, tenured faculty at the full professor level in the business of health. We invite applications for an appointment to begin fall 2021, and will consider later start dates as well. We welcome applications from candidates motivated by the unique opportunity to participate in building a world-class business school at a premier private university.
The Johns Hopkins Carey Business School consists of a collegial group of faculty members who are actively publishing in the top discipline and general journals in their fields. Many of the faculty are active researchers of the business of health across academic disciplines, including accounting, economics, finance, information systems, operations management, marketing, organizational behavior, and health care management.
Qualified candidates for a tenured full professor faculty position must have the following:
- A PhD degree in any business or related discipline.
- Demonstrated world class academic research, excellence in teaching, and active in institution building.
- Preferred record of interdisciplinary research, including with colleagues in the health care or life sciences domains.
The ideal candidate will have an academic record suitable for a tenured appointment commensurate with the standards of a world class university.
Teaching responsibilities will include graduate level courses (MBA and MS).
The Carey Business School is the hub of research and practice in the business of health at Johns Hopkins University, and the ideal candidate will have demonstrated success in building bridges with similar academic units over their own careers, as well as in the mentoring of junior faculty.

During the Influenza ("the flu") season, as a condition of employment, The Johns Hopkins Institutions require all employees who provide ongoing services to patients or work in patient care or clinical care areas to have an annual influenza vaccination or possess an approved medical or religious exception. Failure to meet this requirement may result in termination of employment.
The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
