General Summary/Purpose:

This position provides support for the Institute’s School Culture 360™ project. School Culture 360™ is a resource developed by the Institute based on national and international research. “School Culture” refers to the underlying values, norms, and rules (both written and unwritten) that shape observed outcomes and behavior in a school, and a positive, coherent school culture is linked to many favorable civic and academic outcomes.


The new Program Manager will be tasked with initial outreach to new partner districts and states; creating presentations to interested parties on the survey; ongoing management in fielding the survey across the country; and coordination with the Institute’s research team to study long-term effects and trend lines.

Special Note:This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Manage Outreach on School Culture 360™ (25%)
    • Serve as the key point of contact on the survey
    • Present the purpose, design, components, and outcomes of the survey, in a compelling fashion, to interested districts, charter and private school networks, and foundations
    • Ensure marketing materials, both online and in hard copy, are clear, correct, and complies with Johns Hopkins University’s branding requirements
    • Ensure correct grammar, punctuation, and spelling on all survey reports, database, and materials
  • Manage the Implementation of School Culture 360™ (65%)
    • Set up each new partner in the Institute’s dedicated database system
    • Obtain contact information of school principals
    • Create and distributes unique URLs for every school, and for every constituent in the school
    • Give principals and system leaders response rates in real time
    • Respond to requests for assistance from partners in the course of implementation
    • Send partners their log-ins to view the data
    • Walk school leaders through high-level findings when appropriate
    • Coordinate upgrades and corrections to the survey with WeBuildDatabases (the Institute’s database designer) and the School of Education’s IT team
  • Coordinate with the Institute’s research team (10%)
    • Work with the research team to ensure integrity of Qualtrics and survey design
    • Provide downloaded data to the research team upon request, to allow long-term study to inform the field

Minimum Qualifications (mandatory):

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field
  • Two years related experience


Preferred Qualifications:

  • MA/MS degree in related field
  • Five years’ experience working in district school system or networks of charter and private schools, and possess demonstrable skills with K-12 sales and marketing


Level of Independent Decision-Making:
Must be able to work with a high degree of autonomy, interact with the necessary internal or external persons, and exercise good judgment on behalf of the Institute

Work must be of a caliber representative of the Institute

Must be intellectually curious and willing to gain knowledge about survey design and K-12 schooling

Special knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Excellent customer service experience and affect
  • Modest experience with survey design and analysis, and willing to learn more
  • Must be highly accurate, organized and highly detail-oriented (meticulous)
  • Proven track record of initiative and follow-through
  • Must be highly collaborative, able to delegate, and able to work with a diverse population
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; must be a strong writer such that copy-editing of work is unnecessary

Technical qualifications or specialized certifications:

  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, and Power Point
  • Experience with Qualtrics a plus; willing to learn Qualtrics quickly if necessary

The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
