Job Description:

BENEFITS ADMINISTRATOR

The position is a full-time exempt-status professional/managerial position. Duties and responsibilities include handling major and optional benefits, and wellness programs for the College; counseling, preparing, and processing various retirement choices for eligible employees; and serves as a designated privacy officer under HIPAA law. Additionally, the Benefits Administrator will orientate, enroll, and process changes for employees to major and optional benefit plans; collaborate with the College’s Payroll Department to prepare monthly reconciliation reports to support premium remittance for insurances and optional benefits; advise employees of associated laws and rules concerning life event changes and pre-tax benefit rules and options; coordinate benefit vendors’ campus visits and/or health/wellness and benefit fairs; maintain the benefits website information and resources; process various types of state retirement options; and keep up-to-date with changes in laws, plan eligibility, rules, and technology needs. The successful candidate may be required to travel in-district and overnight, and may be required to work evenings and weekends for special projects or events, and to meet deadlines. This position reports to the Director, Human Resources.

Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor’s degree in business or a related field and two years’ experience with employee benefits compliance and administration. The candidate may substitute a bachelor’s degree in business or related field with a bachelor’s degree and four years of experience in benefits administration. Successful results of a criminal background check are required.

Pursuant to College policy, it is an employment eligibility requirement for an applicant to meet the requirements of § 435.04(2), Florida Statutes, related to background investigations. Any person failing to meet the requirements of the statute will be deemed not qualified to hold employment in this position. A Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) approved background check will be conducted on every successful candidate as a condition of employment, and any person who fails to disclose any adverse information contained in the background investigation at the time of submitting the employment application will be disqualified from employment.

Preferred Qualifications: Prefer experience with processing state retirement programs and options; knowledgeable in laws associated with employee benefits such as IRS Section 125, COBRA, HIPAA, and FMLA; and an understanding of self-administered employee benefit plans.

Salary Range: $34,320.00 - $45,000.00
