Pediatric Cardiologist/Focus in Pulmonary Hypertension

 The Division of Pediatric Cardiology at the University of Utah School of Medicine has an immediate opening for a Pediatric Cardiologist in our Pulmonary Vascular Disease Program.  The clinical focus will be caring for children and adults with heart disease and pulmonary hypertension. The ideal candidate must possess experience and/or formal training in pulmonary hypertension/pulmonary vascular disease, including oral, inhaled and parenteral therapies. Clinical activities will be carried out at Primary Children Hospital and at other Division outreach sites.  In addition to clinical service, there is an expectation for academic work, including investigation, education, administration/service, as well as advocacy.

The Pulmonary Vascular Disease Program is committed to providing compassionate care for patients with a spectrum of problems that alter the form or function of pulmonary vessels. The program is currently participating in the TOPP2 Registry, the Pulmonary Vein Stenosis Network and a national Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia Collaborative. The Department of Pediatrics has developed a strong infrastructure for clinical research that allows members to collaborate in clinical trials. We are seeking an individual who will bring additional expertise to the program and share our intense desire to improve the quality of care, share knowledge, and foster new ideas.  

The Division has a very active research program with a strong support infrastructure and supporting team. It has been a core site of the Pediatric Heart Network since its inception and participates in the NPC-QIC an all the major registries including PC4, PC3, IMPACT, etc. In addition, the Division is a primary site for the Strategic Focus Networks of the American Heart Association. Numerous opportunities for collaborative research exist within the Division as well as throughout the Department, Medical School and University.  

Qualified candidates must be Board Eligible/Board Certified in Pediatric Cardiology; and must possess experience and/or formal training in pulmonary hypertension/pulmonary vascular disease. Additional experience in diagnostic heart catheterization, non-invasive imaging, exercise testing or cardiovascular genetics is preferred.  The selected candidate will receive a faculty appointment in the Department of Pediatrics on the Clinical or Tenure track at the academic level commensurate with experience and qualifications.
