The Department of History at Texas A&M University, College Station seeks an outstanding scholar and teacher of Black History at the Associate Professor level with tenure for a full-time 9-month academic appointment to begin September 1, 2021.   Accomplished advanced Assistant Professors who are eligible for tenure and promotion to Associate Professor upon hire are strongly encouraged to apply.  Whether they engage primarily with the study of African Americans in the United States or the history of Africa and the global African Diaspora, we desire someone who can diversify the Department’s existing research profile https://liberalarts.tamu.edu/history/research-areas/ and add to its offerings in the history of the Black experience as appropriate to specialization and interest https://catalog.tamu.edu/undergraduate/course-descriptions/hist/  The successful candidate will exhibit a strong record of research productivity as demonstrated through peer-reviewed publications and participate in the life of the wider university through affiliation with the Africana Studies Program in the College of Liberal Arts https://liberalarts.tamu.edu/ics/africana-studies-program/about-africana-studies/  This affiliation will involve offering courses on a regular basis that contribute to the Africana Studies Minor.
