Staff Scientist



Summary

The Yong Li Laboratory at Baylor College of Medicine is searching for staff scientist to function independently to investigate the underlying biology of cancer, develop engineered T-cells, screen drugs against lymphoma, myeloma, and solid tumors, and collaborate closely with computational biologists and clinicians. The position will be involved in the development and application of molecular, cellular, and genetic approaches to understand the mechanisms of cancer predisposition, initiation, progression, and response to treatment. Job Purpose

The position is reserved for career researchers and is intended to be utilized after completing at least three years of Postdoctoral research.

Job Duties

Under the general direction of the Principal Investigator:

  • Perform scientific research in cancer biology and therapy.
  • Design and conduct experiments in a controlled laboratory setting.
  • Perform experiments, collecting, analyzing and reporting data.
  • Assist the PI in training junior postdocs and students.
  • Use cell and mouse models to study the function of nuclear receptors, membrane proteins, and intracellular proteins in cancer initiation and promotion.
  • Identify small compounds and antibodies for cancer treatments.
  • Conduct literature searches and summarize information in an appropriate format for cancer related research.


Minimum Qualifications
  • Education Required: Doctoral Degree. Experience may not be substituted in lieu of degree.
  • Experience Required: Three years of post doctoral research experience.
  • Certification/Licenses/Registration: None Required.
