Summary

Provide direct support for the technical function and safety of simulation lab under the direction of the Director and/or Assistant Director of the Learning Resource Center by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Other duties may be assigned.
1. Assist with setting up simulation equipment and other learning technologies to meet needs of faculty and students.
2. Operates computer hardware and audio-video recording systems.
3. Operates simulation equipment with the ability to follow scenario and suggestion of faculty experts and make appropriate adjustments.
4. Assists the faculty with human patient simulator labs, including organization and preparation.
5. Identifies and implements solutions to problems related to simulation equipment, computer hardware and software.
6. Repairs and maintains equipment as required, or initiates repairs for equipment under warranty.
7. Communicates with Director and/or Assistant Director of LRC regarding maintenance, repairs or updates, and simulation technology changes.
8. Communicates both technical and non-technical matters effectively in person and in writing with a diverse population.
9. Remains current with technical and professional skills by attending human patient simulation conferences and training courses.
10. Acquires and maintains skills and knowledge related to existing and newly acquired technologies.
11. Assists in maintaining reference materials for simulation equipment and related audio-visual, and computer hardware and software.
12. Assists in maintaining an accurate inventory of hardware and software.
13. Trains faculty on operation of simulation equipment as needed.
14. Assists in the development of Quick-Guide reference aids for faculty.
15. Assists faculty in the development of simulation-based instructional components.
16. Recommends and implements changes in work processes to improve quality-of-service to faculty and students related to simulation.
17. Contributes effectively to a positive work environment that demonstrates and supports a team-centered environment.
18. Simulation Technician Certification required within one year of hiring.

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

 Ability to obtain Simulation Technician Certification within one year of hiring.

 Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports.
 Ability to create, compose, and edit written materials.
 Ability to develop and maintain recordkeeping systems and procedures.
 Ability to maintain an inventory check system.

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor’s degree from four-year College or university; or one to two years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
