Computer Science

JOHN BROWN UNIVERSITY, private, evangelical and Christian, seeks a full-time faculty member in computer science. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, teaching courses in multiple areas of computer science at the undergraduate level and through multiple delivery methods. Example topics include introductory programming, data structures, mobile/web applications, and algorithm/computing theory. Additional responsibilities include program needs such as advising students, capstone project oversight, recruiting for the major, and service on University committees.

Computer Science (www.jbu.edu/cs) is a major at John Brown University (JBU), housed within the College of STEM and Health Professions. The program delivers a high quality, regionally recognized degree and strives to educate students and practitioners in ethical and technical needs for this important career path while representing God in service to humanity.

An earned doctorate in Computer Science is preferred; a master’s degree with professional experience is necessary. Effective teaching experience in higher education is also preferred. Preference will be given to applicants with potential to teach in multiple areas of computer science and through multiple delivery methods. Candidates should be willing to contribute to university life in areas such as academic advising, recruiting for the major, and committee service. The candidate should also be able to clearly articulate the integration of the Christian faith and science. Evidence of scholarly engagement and a commitment to Christian higher education are essential.
