Dean and Professor - College of Education
Mississippi State University is seeking a visionary leader for the position of Dean of the College of Education. The College, the third largest at Mississippi State University, houses a vital and diverse collection of programs including the Departments of Counseling, Educational Psychology, & Foundations; Curriculum, Instruction, and Special Education; Educational Leadership; Instructional Systems and Workforce Development; Kinesiology; Music, and the Division of Education at the Meridian Campus of Mississippi State University. The research centers include the NRTC on Blindness and Low Vision; America Reads; Mississippi Migrant Education Service Center; Mississippi Writing/Thinking Institute; MSU World Class Teaching Program; the T.K. Martin Center for Technology & Disability; and the Research Institute for Sports Convergence. The College is accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education/Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation and is a member of the American Association of College for Teacher Education. The College is also the lead collaborator in the state-of-the-art Starkville Oktibbeha County Consolidated School District Partnership Middle School on MSU’s campus, the first such school in America on a college campus that is inclusive of all students of its district. Currently, the College serves nearly 3000 undergraduate and 800 graduate students with approximately 140 faculty and 100 staff. The Dean is the chief administrative officer of the College of Education. As such, the Dean collaborates with the faculty and staff of the College in the management of the College’s teaching, research, and service activities as well as oversees academic programs and fiscal affairs within the College. Further, the Dean is responsible for developing, promoting, and maintaining positive and productive relationships with constituencies external to the College and those external to the University. The Dean reports directly to the Provost and Executive Vice President.
