The Department of Kinesiology and Sport Management at Texas Tech University is pleased to announce the availability of a tenure-track position in thermal and/or environmental human physiology at the assistant professor level.

Minimum Qualifications

  • An earned doctorate in kinesiology, exercise science, or exercise physiology.
  • A focused research agenda and expertise related to thermal and/or environmental human physiology.
  • Demonstrated ability to publish in high-quality, peer-reviewed journals.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Post-doctoral research experience in thermal and/or environmental human physiology.
  • History of seeking external funding.
  • Teaching experience.
  • Demonstrated collegiality to participate in and support a collaborative, interdisciplinary work environment.
  • Experience and interest in working with diverse student populations and first-generation students is highly desirable.

 

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research and publish in high-quality, peer-reviewed journals.
  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses.
  • Obtain external funding.
  • Mentor students working in research lab.
  • Advise graduate students.
  • Perform professional service to the university, community, and profession.

Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experiences.

 

Effective Date of Appointment: 9-month, tenure-track appointment will be effective September 1, 2021.

Department: The department offers a B.S. in Kinesiology, B.S. in Sport Management, M.S. in Kinesiology, M.S. in Sport Management, and Ph.D. in Exercise Physiology. The department offers seventeen state-of-the-art and fully-equipped research laboratories in its own building, which also includes six classrooms, a student computer lab, and faculty offices. The department is one of the largest departments at Texas Tech University and enrolls over 1,350 undergraduate students in Kinesiology and over 350 undergraduate students in Sport Management. Approximately 40 graduate students are enrolled in the master’s degree specializations in exercise physiology (clinical; human performance; integrative physiology) and in motor behavior/exercise and sport psychology and approximately 40 graduate students in Sport Management. The Ph.D. in Exercise Physiology with an emphasis in health disparities has 16 students enrolled in its third year of existence.
