Description

The successful candidate will teach two lecture courses and their accompanying laboratories each semester. Primary teaching responsibilities include introductory biology for majors and non-majors, which cover topics in cellular and molecular biology, genetics, biodiversity, and evolution. Opportunities to teach upper-level courses in the Oxford College biology curriculum are available. We seek candidates with a commitment to excellence in teaching as well as engagement in an active research program with the potential to involve undergraduates. Oxford’s state-of-the-art science facility, which opened in 2016, is designed to promote student-faculty collaboration, scholarship, and innovative teaching in STEM.

Qualifications

Required - A Ph.D. in biology or a sub-discipline, completed by May 2021

Desirable – Candidates with experience in inquiry-based teaching and student-centered learning are particularly encouraged to apply.  Biology faculty use recommendations of Vision and Change and PULSE as guiding principles. We are particularly interested in, but not limited to, applicants with a focus on organismal biology (animal or plant models) and experience or some training in molecular biology.
