Job Purpose
Under close supervision, provides routine care and handling of USDA covered species and other animals that require specialized expertise in a safe and sanitary manner.
Job Duties
- Feeds and waters large animals according to schedules and instructions.
- Changes animal caging as scheduled, sanitizing rooms, equipment and hallways.
- Maintains bulk feed and bedding supplies necessary for daily use.
- Performs minor maintenance and repair on equipment.
- Handles and transports animals and bedding material.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education Required: High School diploma or GED.
- Experience Required: One year of relevant experience.
- Certification/Licenses/Registration: Assistant Laboratory Animal Technician (ALAT) by the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science (AALAS). Certification must be obtained within one year of hire or promotion.
