Job Description

Reporting to the Director of Design and Digital Strategy, the frontend developer will play a crucial role in the Create Studio for University Relations. The frontend developer will collaborate with designers, stakeholders, writers and others to create accessible, clean, well functioning frontend code for web and other digital communication.| |Working with a dynamic team, the frontend developer will build and maintain mobile-first templates for the Adobe Experience Manager content management system (CMS) to be used by vt.edu, vtnews.vt.edu, and other constituents around the university. She/he will also provide frontend solutions to a number of digital projects focused on engaging with strategic audiences. These projects will set the stage for a university wide initiative to embrace a digitally focused, audience centered approach to communication. Leading the charge for solving web functionality across the top platforms in advancement which include VT News, campaign site and the philanthropy site.| |The ideal candidate will show initiative in solving problems, and will work well as a member of a team or as a lead. We are looking for a self starter, who is eager to learn, and fun to work with. The ideal candidate is a creative thinker, who approaches projects with the end user in mind. He/She should be excited to work in an inclusive, fast paced, and energetic environment.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or relevant field.| |Must know HTML, CSS, JQuery, JavaScript.| |Experience with developing code that meets accessibility standards.| |Experience with theming, template design for a content management system.|

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with LESS, SASS, or similar systems.| |Experience with responsive web design and responsive email design.| |Experience with Subversion, GIT or similar version control system.| |Experience with Adobe Experience Manager.| |Experience with Agile workflow for development.
