Job Summary:
Responsible for Miami University's strategic recruitment plan, school relations, and alumni admissions volunteer program in the Southwest region including Arizona, Southern California, Hawaii, New Mexico, Nevada, Oklahoma, Puerto Rico, and Texas; position is home-based.
Duties/Physical Demands:
1. Formulate recruitment strategies, plans, and goals for the
Southwest region of the US based on demographic analysis, market
research, and other admission data. 20%
2. Monitor admission activity in critical markets; prepare
statistical reports and analysis; coordinate recruitment activities
in the area, to include eight to twelve weeks of travel with
evening and weekend work expected. 20%
3. Organize, coordinate, and manage on- and off-campus recruitment
events and counselor programs; develop and maintain the leadership
and membership of the Miami University Community Outreach &
Recruiting Program (MUCORP) within the Southwest region and provide
training for members. 5%
4. Develop working knowledge of Miami University programs,
opportunities, and policies; communicate information about the
Miami brand, experience, and outcomes and its admission policies
and procedures to prospective students, families, guidance
counselors, community-based organizations, and alumni volunteers.

5. Develop and maintain relationships with high school and
community college counselors and other school, agency and community
officials in the Southwest; provide a high level of customer
service through timely interactions throughout the admission cycle.

6. Work with the Communications Team to develop and implement
targeted, segmented, specific communications strategies. 5%
7. Participate in electronic file review; routine travel to Oxford
for training and office activities; participate in professional
organizational and professional development activities within the
region; other duties as assigned. 15%
Minimum Qualifications:
Assistant Director Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree with a
minimum of two years of experience in progressively responsible
positions in admission, recruitment activities and territory
management (experience gained as part of an advanced degree program
is acceptable); or a Master's degree. Ability to lift 30-40 lbs of
recruiting materials; valid driver's license; ability to perform
overnight travel.
Senior Assistant Director Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree with a
minimum of three years of experience in progressively responsible
positions in admission or a Master’s Degree and experience with
recruitment activities and territory management. Ability to lift
30-40 lbs of recruiting materials; valid driver's license; ability
to perform overnight travel.
Desired Qualifications:
Candidates who reside in Texas are preferred, but all qualified
applicants based within the region will be considered.
Master's degree; experience with customer relations databases,
Banner, and Microsoft Access; experience working with school
counselors, community-based organizations, and alumni
volunteers.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Strong working knowledge of the recruitment region; excellent
communication skills, including public speaking and writing
ability; high level of organizational and self-starting skills;
ability to work with minimal supervision; demonstrated commitment
to recruiting individuals from diverse backgrounds; knowledge of
and experience with computer systems and various software
applications, especially Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint;
ability to lift 30-40 lbs of recruiting materials; valid driver's
license; ability to perform overnight travel.
