Position Summary:

As part of the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Graduate Education (OVCRGE), our team (OVCRGE IT) builds and supports custom applications used by faculty, researchers, administrative staff, and graduate students. Our diverse project portfolio spans a wide variety of subjects including: clinical research studies, admissions, student services, accounting, drone research, and institutional data reporting. We take pride in building partnerships with our campus colleagues and playing an integral role in driving innovation at UW-Madison.

This position will provide IT help desk support as a Desktop Support Analyst to the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Graduate Education under the general supervision of the Systems Administrator. Duties and responsibilities of this position include: provide triage and desktop support for all OVCRGE staff, develop and document procedures for desktop support to improve customer satisfaction and promote efficiency and communicate those procedures clearly to OVCRGE users, document requests and responses and recommend procedural improvements to leadership, maintain an inventory of OVCRGE technical assets, keep abreast of current and future campus services and technologies, and provide training to OVCRGE staff on relevant software and technology.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

Bachelor's degree preferred; preferably in information systems, computer science, or related field.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

-Ability to install, configure, secure, test, troubleshoot, and repair Macs, PCs, laptops, mobile devices, projectors, copiers, and printers.
-Knowledge of Windows Active Directory, networking technologies, IT security and endpoint management.
-Strong oral and written communication skills including an ability to communicate technical concepts to audiences with varying levels of technical competencies.
-At least 2 years providing customer-focused computing support, assistance and training, ideally in a higher education environment is preferred.
