Position Summary:

Provide laboratory management for faculty engaged in dairy cattle research within the Department of Animal and Dairy Sciences. Faculty within the Department of Animal and Dairy Sciences work with one of the current laboratory managers (currently 3; 4 with this position). Number of faculty the successful candidate will work with directly will likely be 7 to 9, and are referred to below as "respective PIs". Additionally, the candidate will work as essential on-site personnel together with the other laboratory managers and the building manager, to promote congruency, collaboration, and sharing of equipment across the department and with other Dairy Innovation Hub funded faculty.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

Bachelors required with specialization or experience in biology. Master's preferred.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

More than 4 years experience managing a complex research program or laboratory. Experience in managing animal care, biosafety, and chemical hygiene protocols required. Excellent organizational and record keeping skills are essential. Experience in animal and lab research required. Experience with lab and grant administration highly desirable. Familiarity and experience with some of the following is desirable: animal research and sampling (tissue biopsies, blood sample collection, etc), colorimetric assays, molecular biology, cell culture, etc. Experience working with graduate and undergraduate students in a research setting is desirable.
