Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit

The primary purpose of the Office of Institutional Research and Planning is to collect, maintain and provide official information about the university to meet both internal and external demands for mandated and ad hoc requests while also monitoring policies and processes related to space utilization, assessment and accreditation compliance. Both mandated and ad hoc requests can be internal (i.e. an Academic Department or Faculty Senate) or external (i.e. UNC System Office, US News and World Report or Delaware Study) The office is considered a university-wide resource as it provides information about and to all departments within the organization in some form or another. Strategically, the office is charged with providing research expertise and strategies to study and measure issues within numerous areas on campus including but not limited to enrollment management; enrollment budget planning; student success; space planning and management, and student, faculty and staff satisfaction and perceptions. The office is purposed to ultimately provide the Chief Executive, the Chief Academic Officer, and other institutional senior leaders with timely, accurate and relevant research to positively impact policy decision making across the university.

Brief Summary of Work for this Position

The primary purpose of the Executive Assistant position is to provide administrative support services to the Associate Provost and the staff of the Office of Institutional Research and Planning.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

High school diploma or equivalency and three years of progressively responsible administrative/office management experience;
or Associate’s degree in secretarial science, business administration, or a related discipline and one year of progressively responsible administrative/office management experience ; or Bachelor’s degree, preferably in business administration or a related discipline; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Preferred education, professional skills and experience

The position preferences are flexibility, a self starter, able to adapt to a wide range of project parameters and able to handle multiple deadlines, courteousness and customer service driven. The successful candidate will be able to anticipate the needs of others and work independently.
