The Department of Pathology, Immunology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of Florida College of Medicine invites applications for a faculty position at the Assistant Professor level (non-tenure track) to serve as the Director of the distance education program in forensic medicine. The candidate will serve as the Assistant Director of the William R. Maples Center for Forensic Medicine.

Primary responsibilities include:

Direct and maintain a distance education program in forensic medicine including clinical services for individuals and agencies such as law enforcement and medical examiner districts. The candidate will be responsible for maintaining the service including the management and oversight of all administrative, marketing, fiscal and accounting matters.

Plan content of new undergraduate, graduate, professional, and continuing education offerings for the UF Maples Center in Forensic Medicine. This includes educational curriculum in the area forensic medicine for graduate and professional students. The candidate is expected to assist with the instruction of graduate and professional students.

Clinical services including response to medicolegal death investigations at the request of State of Florida District Offices of the Medical Examiner for the purposes of postmortem interval estimation, clandestine grave detection using ground penetrating radar, clandestine grave excavation, and assessment of the state of human decomposition with relation to a medicolegal death investigation.

Responsible for the management and oversight of all administrative, fiscal and accounting matters relating to UF Maples Center distance education in forensic medicine. In addition, the candidate will coordinate the administrative and fiscal day-to-day management of the program and any financial awards received by the program. The candidate will ensure the accuracy of all expenditures and will prepare quarterly and annual reports for the Maples Center.

Develop and instruct continuing education and professional development courses in forensic medicine for the Maples Center.

This is a non-tenure accruing position. Salary commensurate with experience.

Minimum Requirements: Ph.D. degree in an area of the forensic sciences, with a focus in forensic medicine and medicolegal death investigation. The candidate should have a strong track record of on-line education teaching activity.

Preferred Qualifications: The candidate must also have a strong background in applied forensic sciences, entomology, botany, anthropology and medicolegal death investigation. Additional expertise in other forensic science subspecialties is desirable.
