Position Summary:
Monmouth University is seeking applications for a Counselor for the Educational Opportunity Fund (EOF) department.

The candidate would be expected to: provide access to higher education to educationally underprepared and economically disadvantaged students; counsel students individually and in groups in the areas of academic advisement, registration, financial aid, career development, personal and crisis counseling; assist in coordinating/implementing the 5-6 week pre-freshman summer program, advising and workshop development and planning.

Bachelor's degree

Required Skills or Software:
Must be able to utilize a variety of computer software programs in order to successfully complete assigned tasks, Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills, Must be able to treat confidential and sensitive information appropriately, Must be able to operate a variety of office equipment, Basic Knowledge of MS Word 2013, Basic Knowledge of MS Excel 2013

Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Education or related field. Experience working with individuals from a culturally diverse population and socio-economically challenged backgrounds.


Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or Higher Education. Experience in higher education, college counseling, or related student development experience in a college setting. Demonstrated ability and skill in addressing the issues and factors impacting at-risk college students.
