Primary Purpose of Position:
The primary purpose of the position is to function as a mid-level manager responsible for Jeanne Clery Act compliance, accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation of Law Enforcement Agencies, and management of the Records Section of the Department.


Minimum Education/Experience:
High school diploma or equivalency and three years of law enforcement experience. Certification as a law enforcement officer in accordance with the provisions of the North Carolina Criminal Justice Training and Standards Commission or the ability to achieve certification within one year of employment.


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
The successful candidate must possess working knowledge of State of North Carolina Criminal Statutes, the FBI Uniform Crime Reporting Program, and differences between the two; knowledge of the Jeanne S. Cleary Act; knowledge of the requirements of the Commission on Accreditation of Law Enforcement Agencies; knowledge of software applications related to the position including Records Management, CALEA, Microsoft Office Suite (Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint) Applications; ability to make independent compliance rulings and judgments; ability to innovate and to make strategic decisions; ability to build partnerships across the university and within the community; ability to design and deliver training programs to groups of non-law enforcement employees, including student employees; ability to facilitate change among law enforcement officers, particularly patrol officers; must demonstrate the ability to work independently with little or no supervision; to take initiative to see projects and assignments through to completion; to learn, interpret and analyze information to make necessary decisions; to exercise judgment and discretion in problem solving; to plan priority and organize workflow; ability to work along with written and oral communication skills; great interpersonal skills to interact effectively and diplomatically with a wide range of individuals in high pressure environment.
