Salary Basis: 12 month

Responsibilities:
Perform skilled mechanical work on cars, vans, bus and grounds equipment. To be able to maintain, repair and overhaul gasoline and diesel equipment. Make periodic inspections on vehicles and equipment to ensure fleet safety and to make sure preventive maintenance is being performed. Using appropriate test equipment, observation and experience to diagnose the cause of the malfunction. Repair malfunctions on all types of vehicles and industrial equipment using various hand and power equipment. Perform preventive maintenance inspection on vehicles and equipment, as required to ensure a safe and trouble free day to day operation. Will be supervising and instructing others in maintenance and repairs of university's owned equipment. Understands and carries out verbal and written instructions. Reads and interprets technical maintenance manuals, circuit diagrams, and blueprints. Has the ability to work on a computer and maintain records and work in school dude DSU's work order system. Bending, stooping and lifting for long periods of time is required. Adhere to safety standards and practices. Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:
Two years’ experience as a skilled vehicle mechanic in both gasoline and diesel. Also must have one years’ experience repair in small type equipment. A proven record of maintaining and keeping records. Must have a driver’s license but would prefer a CDL. Must be able to use a computer to handle work orders and maintain records.

High School graduate or GED, driver’s license. Knowledge of operation and use of gasoline and diesel equipment and the repair of that equipment.

CDL, Certified Mechanic in various areas.


Salary:
12 monthCommensurate with experience, qualifications, and university’s resources.
